This 1987 classical guitar, made by the great luthier Robert Mattingly is a gem! Modeled after a Miguel Rodriguez, it has a a warm, expansive voice with a lot of volume; no need for a double top here.
It has a Redwood top and Brazilian Rosewood sides and back. My luthier friends all say the price is less than it would cost them for Brazilian Rosewood, and finding this quality these days is almost impossible.
The responsiveness, volume, and projection make this the perfect guitar for large venues or ensemble work. The voice is truly demanding and because of the responsiveness it is easy on the player to get it.
The is guitar has a 660mm scale, with 44mm string spacing at the nut and 59mm string spacing at the saddle. The guitar weighs 1813g. It has one crack in the Brazilian Rosewood on the side that has been repaired, finish wear, and other minor marks from the attention it has received for it's almost 40 year life.
You can find Robert's guitars on occasion, but this example, from near the end of his career, is exceptional!
