Vintage 1936 Supertone (Harmomy) 2290 "Golden Jubilee" Metal Body Lap Steel Guitar w/ Original Hardshell Case!

Up for sale is this vintage 1936 Supertone 2290 metal-body lap steel electric guitar. Built by Harmony for one year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Sears company, this model has come to be known as the "Golden Jubilee" model over the years...

This particular example is all original with the exception of the volume pot, the control knob, and one tuning key button. Cosmetically, the instrument is in nice condition considering that it's closing in on a hundred years old. It does show wear including some dings, scuffs, and scratches as well as some flaking of the paint in spots. We have tried to capture the worst of this in the photos.

Our tech just went over this one by spraying out the electronics and installing a fresh set of strings. It's a great sounding instrument that's really hard to put down if for no other reason than just how cool it is. It's one of those that makes you want to keep playing!

The original hardshell case is included and is in nice condition. The hinges, latches, and handle are all present and work as they should although the case lid does need to be propped up to keep it from falling backwards. Just to have the original case is a wonder, but it's actually intact and sturdy.
