2008 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Reissue R9 – Cherry Sunburst – Complete Case Candy – Demo Video

For sale is a 2008 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Reissue (R9), serial number 9 8363, complete with its original case and accompanying case candy.

We’ve had the opportunity to spend some time with this guitar here at the shop, and it’s exactly the kind of R9 that reminds you why these Historic Reissues have such a devoted following. It has the feel, resonance, and response players look for in a great Les Paul, while avoiding the overly flashy look that some modern figured tops can have.

The figured maple top displays a beautiful vintage-style flame that moves nicely under changing light. It has plenty of character without looking exaggerated, giving the guitar a very authentic late-’50s Burst aesthetic. The cherry sunburst finish remains vibrant, and the flame continues around the edges for a particularly attractive overall presentation.

Acoustically, the guitar is lively and resonant with strong sustain and excellent note bloom. Plugged in, the Burstbuckers deliver everything you’d expect from a Historic Collection Les Paul: articulate cleans, rich midrange, and the thick singing lead tones that have defined this model for decades.

Condition is excellent overall for a 2008 instrument. The guitar shows light signs of careful ownership and normal handling but has clearly been well cared for throughout its life. The frets remain in excellent condition, the neck is comfortable and straight, and the guitar plays cleanly across the entire fingerboard.

The electronics cavity appears original and retains the factory-style Historic wiring. The nickel hardware shows attractive natural aging and patina consistent with age. We found no evidence of headstock repairs, structural issues, or other concerns during our inspection.
