Up for sale, a 1981 Music Man 112 RD Fifty in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original footswitch. Launched in 1975, Music Man was founded by former Fender Plant Manager Forrest White, former Fender Sales Rep Tom Walker, and Leo Fender himself. A hybrid affair, this amp matches a 12AX7A preamp tube with two 6L6 power tubes, providing plenty of headroom, with the warmth and fullness of a tube power section that can get as gritty as desired when the tubes are cooking.

Tonally, this amp is very much in Fender territory with bold, sparkling cleans and dynamic grit, and this "RD" variant features onboard Reverb and Distortion. The three-spring Reverb is lush with a long decay, and the Distortion is rich and textured, delivering a broad spectrum ranging from subtle crunch to white-hot, sizzling drive. The amp also features dual channels with independent Volume, Treble, and Bass controls, with Gain and Reverb knobs on the second channel. Additionally, channel one includes a Bright switch, while channel two incorporates a Limiter.

The circuit is virtually untouched, with a bevy of Plessey and Mallory caps in the preamp, and the circuit board includes a handwritten 11-17-81 date. The stock Schumacher transformers date to the 20th and 40th weeks of '81, and the original CTS pots date to the late weeks of ‘81 as well. The tubes are a pair of properly biased USA-made Sylvania 6L6s, with a Sylvania 12AX7A in the preamp. The speaker is an original 12” ceramic magnet MagnaLab, built by Eminence with a date code on the frame translating to the 41st week of 1980, and the tube chart is intact inside the cabinet.

The original blonde tolex and black grillcloth show minimal wear, all of the original hardware is present, and the faceplate is clean with pristine graphics and the stock set of witch hat knobs.
