This is the gold standard cassette four track. I bought it 2 years ago, fully cleaned and refurbished. It looks brand new. The mixer works 100%, but the recorder has two problems that are quite fixable, but beyond my abilities:
* Track 1 records very low quality - muffled and low volume
* Depending on the tape being used, the right spindle doesn't move forward
This means that as a recorder, the unit doesn't work. I do believe it could be easily fixed, but FYI.
You could certainly just use this as a six channel analog mixer:
- 6 sweet, warm analog mic preamps
- channels 1 and 2 have insert FX
- Dedicated Aux Send AND RETURN (don't have to waste channels on FX returns)
- Hi/Lo EQ on each channel
