The BBE 462 Sonic Maximizer is a two-channel signal processor that enhances audio clarity and presence by correcting phase and amplitude issues in the low and high frequencies. It works by splitting the audio signal and applying time delays to different frequency bands (mids and lows) so that the highs reach the listener's ears first, resulting in a cleaner and more defined sound. The device includes simple controls for a "low contour" to adjust bass and a main "function" button to bypass the effect. It is used in both live sound and studio environments for vocals, instruments, and full mixes to add sparkle, clarity, and punch to the audio.
