If you're looking for an authentic vintage tape delay, the Maestro Echoplex EP-3 Solid State delivers with its '70s sound. Mike Battle's solid state technology makes these models much more durable and affordable than their tube-wielding ancestors. The EP-3 introduced the FET preamp that was frequently used by players without an echo effect at all to, as Tom Verlaine has said, "goose it up.
