Harry Kolbe Soundsmith 1x12 Bass/Guitar Cabinet —1980s/1990s, NYC
A rare piece of New York City boutique gear history. Harry Kolbe Soundsmith operated out of Manhattan from the 1980s through the mid-90s, building and modifying gear for some of NYC's most notable guitarists and bassists — Eric Gale, Hiram Bullock, Sid McGinnis, G.E. Smith among them. Jim Hall. These cabinets almost never come up for sale.
This is a 1x12 compact ported cabinet in Kolbe's signature natural urethane finish, loaded with a vintage 1970s Fender/CTS 12" ceramic speaker (50–65W, 8 ohm). The cabinet is Constructed from high-density particleboard with a tough natural urethane finish with black protective corner hardware, all intact. The Harry Kolbe Soundsmith badge is present and clean.
Condition is very good — some light wear consistent with age, structurally solid throughout. Port is intact. Sounds fantastic — tight, detailed low end with clear mids.
Perfect pairing for a Walter Woods, a small tube head, or any boutique amp where you want a compact, high-quality 1x12 that can handle jazz, upright bass, or guitar. Local pickup preferred in NYC — but will ship, buyer covers freight.
