This is a 2009 Gibson Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Reissue (R9) finished in the exceptionally rare Burnt Wheat Burst. While the 2009 50th Anniversary R9s are already amongst the most sought-after Historic Collection guitars ever produced, this particular instrument takes rarity to another level.
To the best of our knowledge, this is the only 50th Anniversary R9 produced in this colour, making it an extraordinarily unique piece of Gibson Custom Shop history.
The 2009 50th Anniversary series marked a significant milestone for Gibson, with numerous refinements designed to bring the Historic Collection even closer to the original 1959 Les Pauls. These guitars have since earned a reputation amongst players and collectors alike as some of the finest reissues Gibson has ever produced.
Beyond the rarity, this guitar simply delivers everything you’d want from a great R9. The top is stunning, the neck has that familiar late-’50s feel, and the guitar resonates beautifully. It has the kind of tone, sustain and response that reminds you exactly why the 1959 Les Paul has become one of the most iconic electric guitars ever made.
This Gibson has certainly been loved and played through its years. There are some knocks and bumps visible in the photos, and the pots have been replaced. Despite its wear, the instrument retains its exceptional playability and tonal character, with all original documentation + case candy and case included.
A truly exceptional instrument that offers a rare opportunity to own something that may never be seen again.
