A very rare 1961 Jacques Favino Modèle 3 acoustic archtop, built during the golden period of one of France’s most celebrated luthiers. Jacques Favino instruments are increasingly sought after, and purely acoustic archtops are encountered far less often than his better-known Selmer-style models.

The rare round soundhole, the elegant Ivoroid binding, to the figured Flame Maple body, and shiny SB hardware all add to the unmistakable visual charm of this early Favino. The dimensions are especially appealing, with a 16-inch body and a comfortable 63 cm scale, making it a highly versatile instrument for players who appreciate vintage French craftsmanship in a slightly more compact, responsive format.

Construction features include a Cedar top, solid Flamed Maple back and sides, Maple neck, and Ebony fingerboard, luxurous Ivoroid binding, paired with an adjustable Rosewood bridge, SB nickel-plated tuners, and a nickel-plated Frequensator tailpiece. The guitar is currently set up with Thomastik-Infeld BB111 roundwound strings.

Besides four, fixed top cracks and a repaired binding, the guitar remains in good condition, and presents a playable, vintage instrument with the kind of patina one hopes to see on an original example from 1961.
