  Comments:   First introduced in 1963, the D40 was originally nicknamed the "Bluegrass Jubilee". It was specifically designed to compete with iconic mahogany dreadnoughts like the Martin D-18, aiming to give acoustic musicians a powerful, stage-ready tool. Folk icon Richie Havens famously played a Guild D40 on stage during his historic opening performance of "Freedom" at the 1969 Woodstock Festival.
