Up for sale is an incredible piece of Gibson Custom Shop history: a 2009 Gibson Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue (R9) with a breathtaking Burst finish. Released in a strictly limited run to celebrate 50 years of the legendary 1959 "Burst," these 2009 models are highly coveted by collectors and players alike for their historically accurate top carves, wireless ABR-1 bridges, and exquisite tonewood selections.
At a perfect, non-weight-relieved 8 lbs 10 oz, this R9 hits the absolute sweet spot for a Les Paul. It rings out with incredible acoustic resonance before you even plug it in, and the hand-selected flame maple top looks incredibly deep, with strong ribbon flame that shifts beautifully depending on the light.
This guitar is in Very Good condition. It has been loved, played, and properly cared for in a climate-controlled environment. It strikes the perfect balance for someone who wants a premium, highly collectible anniversary R9 that they can actually take out of the case and enjoy playing. There are minor blemishes here and there, but nothing too noteworthy and hardly anything that would even show on a picture. I took pictures from as many angles as I thought necessary, but message me if you need more.
The neck is straight, the truss rod functions perfectly, and the authentic '59 rounded neck profile feels amazing in the hand. The frets have plenty of life left, and the action and playability is immaculate. One of the best playing guitars I’ve ever put my hands on.
The original pickups and electronics are untouched, delivering that classic PAF bite, woodiness, and warmth.
