This late 1950s Lee Gibbs Concertone Archtop Acoustic Guitar in Gold Burst is a tasteful piece of American department store history, originally distributed through Montgomery Ward catalogs. Built with cost-effective craftsmanship by prominent East Coast manufacturers like the United Guitar Corporation, this hollow body features a comfortable 15 1/4" lower bout width that bridges the gap between smaller parlor acoustics and larger jazz boxes. Its distinctively styled body is complemented by a familiar 1 3/4" nut width, offering ample string spacing across the fingerboard for fingerstyle articulation, chord-melody arrangements, and robust old-school swing rhythm strumming. With its vibrant, vintage-vibe Gold Burst finish, this instrument delivers a woody, mid-range focused acoustic punch and great natural projection, embodying the unmistakable mojo of 1950s Americana.

Notes:

This Late 1950s Lee Gibbs USA Concertone Archtop Acoustic Guitar is in Very Good condition, part of a climate-controlled, family collection, with light visible wear consistent with age and appropriate use. This is a remarkably playable instrument, with low, even action across the fingerboard all the way up to the 14th fret, where it begins to fret out in the treble register—but truly, it's a reach to even access those highest frets in the first place, we just wanted to disclose. Includes era-correct chipboard case and a couple clean towels for a snug fit. Missing treble-side pickguard screw (pictured).

All instruments from the Old Town School Music Store are professionally evaluated in our climate-controlled storefront before shipping, and directly support the missions, programs, and continued growth of the Old Town School of Folk Music.
