My apologies for long description but there’s a lot to know.
This guitar is quite special and I put everything I could into it short of buying a vintage neck and pups.
Neck - Musikraft: chunky highly figured maple reliced and butter smooth with a quite thick slab of Brazilian rosewood with clay dots and nicely rolled edges. I don’t have the tools to provide exact measurements, except to say that it is chunky, but my medium size hands have never felt uncomfortable on it - quite the opposite.
Body – MJT purple mist relic showing numerous signs of vertical Nitro lacquer cracking.
Pickups- JM Rolph 1963 pick ups; if you are not aware of JM Rolph he is probably the best vintage pick up rewinder there is. He also winds his own pick ups, primarily PAFs and this 1963 set, the last set if I’m not mistaken sold on Reverb for $500. He is the guy Keith Richards sends his pickups to. They sound warm full bodied and have everything you’d expect from a 1963 Stratocaster. Update: I forgot to mention that I had to lengthen the leads on the pickups - they had been shortened when bought them.
Appointments – metal hardware is all brass, including vintage replica.”pat. Pending” bridges saddles. The tremolo block is a special nrass block. I bought years ago, but it is quite heavy and adds to the weight of the guitar and I have planned to take it out and put a standard block in its place, but I’ve never gotten around to it. Tuners are brass the neck plate is made of a very thick piece of reliced brass as well.
The plastic guard is a very good I think nitro based replica of the kind of guard appropriate for a 1963 Strat as are pick up covers and knobs. I just noticed it when I was taking pictures, but I will replace the switch ship before sending.
The guitar has been professionally set up very well and sounds amazing. The only downside I would say about this guitar is its weight – it is not light. On my scale it is weighing approximately 7.9 pounds. I think most of this is from the size of the neck as well as the brass block and thick braas neck plate which could be easily remedied. Either way if you were looking for a light Strat, this is not for you. I am 53 and have significant back problems, but have never had issues playing this guitar. It just feels solid all around and the sound that comes out of it makes up more than it’s weight in gold. Comes with a quite nice fender tweed case. I have shipped numerous guitars and this will be packed well and carefully
Thanks for listening to the diatribe and I hope you’ll consider this one. I don’t think custom shop could do this with a reasonable price tag. Please feel free to make offers. I am inclined to accept,
