The left-handed Made in Japan Traditional 70s Telecaster Thinline returns as a limited-production FSR (Factory Special Run) model, faithfully carrying on Fender’s classic heritage while incorporating authentic vintage-inspired details throughout.

This model is a recreation of the 1972 Telecaster Thinline, featuring a semi-hollow body and humbucking pickups—offering a tonal character that stands in contrast to the traditional Telecaster’s twangy sound produced by its solid body and single-coil pickups.

The body is constructed from ash and equipped with Fender-designed Wide-Range Humbucking pickups. The neck features a maple U-shape profile inspired by the MIJ series, paired with a 41mm bone nut and a 9.5" radius maple fingerboard. Vintage-correct details include a headstock-adjust truss rod for easy neck adjustments and the Micro-Tilt neck adjustment system. The guitar also retains iconic 1970s Fender styling cues such as the black-and-gold outlined modern Fender logo, the three-bolt neck plate with the stamped “F” logo, and the vintage-style tuner covers.

While the original Thinline was developed primarily as a way to reduce the weight of the Telecaster, the unique tonal characteristics of its semi-hollow construction ultimately won over countless musicians. Its resonant, airy sound became particularly popular among rock and blues players, helping the model earn a distinctive place in Fender history. Its lightweight design has also made it a favorite among singer-guitarists. Alongside the Telecaster Custom, the Thinline remains one of the defining Fender models of the 1970s.
