This Used Noble & Cooley Ulysses Owens Jr. Signature "U" Snare Drum represents a unique milestone in the company's long and celebrated history as its first-ever signature snare drum. Developed in collaboration with three-time Grammy Award-winning drummer and educator Ulysses Owens Jr., this model was designed to deliver premium American-made craftsmanship while remaining approachable, musical, and versatile. Featuring Noble & Cooley's acclaimed Horizon shell construction, wood hoops, brass hardware, and understated aesthetics, the "U" combines boutique-level attention to detail with an exceptionally expressive voice.

The drum's 14x5.5 configuration is built around a Horizon hybrid shell that combines maple and mahogany plies in a horizontal orientation. This unique construction method was developed to promote more uniform shell resonance while capturing some of the attack and responsiveness typically associated with solid-shell instruments. The result is a drum that feels lively under the stick while maintaining warmth, depth, and musicality.

Condition & Build Quality

This drum is in Very Good condition, showing very little wear throughout. The shell, hoops, and brass hardware all present exceptionally well, with only minimal signs of handling visible upon close inspection. The natural satin finish remains clean and attractive, allowing the wood grain and custom burned "U" badge to stand out beautifully.

All hardware functions exactly as intended, including the Noble & Cooley brass throw-off and butt plate. The shell remains structurally excellent, with clean bearing edges, stable tuning performance, and no issues affecting playability. The wood hoops are in equally impressive condition, showing very little evidence of use while retaining their original appearance and integrity.

The drum appears to retain its original design features, including the 8 brass double-ended Hex Lugs, wood hoops, Cam-Action snare wires, and overall factory specification. It has clearly been well cared for and remains an outstanding example of this signature model.
