Vintage 12 Channel PA Mixer. Powers on and produces sound through headphones. Otherwise untested. Selling AS-IS.
I must admit this item is a bit of a mystery to me. It says “12 Channel Powered Mixer” but the word “powered” is painted over.
A former Crate employee told me it was not a powered mixer. I did a quick google search and saw the same thing. Then a few days later I looked it up for more in-depth reasearch. This time A.I. said it is a powered mixer, but I found A.I. based this entirely on a review of a totally different mixer. I can’t find anything specifically about this mixer.
And there is no serial number. Could it be a prototype that made it out of the company? A partscaster? An error on the nameplate?
If the mixer is unpowered, it requires an external power amplifier or powered speakers to drive a sound system. I do not have a power amp or powered speakers to test it. I have not been able to make it produce significant sound through unpowered speakers. Maybe I don’t know what I’m doing. The outputs are labeled differently from other PA heads I’ve used and honestly I never totally understood Ohms and all that.
So it’s either an unpowered mixer or an untested, possibly non-functional powered mixer.
Has some knobs/switches broken off but you can still turn/toggle them. There‘s a chip in the wood on the right side. Still looks cool though. I kind of want to hang on to it just for the aesthetics, but I have to downsize.
