Up for sale, a 1960 Gretsch Jet Firebird 6131 in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Available in a single cutaway version with Filter’Trons only from 1958-61, this golden age Gretsch retains its original Patent No. Filter’Tron humbuckers, with “neo-classic” thumbnail inlay on the ebony fingerboard. Extremely soulful and sporting a vintage pin-up, this Jet Firebird delivers the goods as few guitars can, with a lively acoustic bark from the chambered mahogany body and maple top. The ebony fingerboard yields a certain treble detail and dynamic responsiveness, and the original Filter’Tron pickup pair pack a bold broadband punch, with exquisite clarity, sparkle, and all of the twang and muscle inherent to this classic humbucker design. This Jet Firebird weighs only 7lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Oriental Red (Firebird Red) finish is accented by the vintage pin-up which has ostensibly been on the guitar for decades, with subtle checking through the decal. The finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, with a small area of finish loss on the lower bout edge on top, prominent checking and buckle rash on the back, and various smaller dings and scuffs consistent with decades of careful usage. The neck profile exhibits light wear along the carve, smooth and inviting to the palm, and this guitar has a small, professionally stabilized split along the spine behind frets 4-9.
The original blue/gray speckled hardshell case is included.
