1963 Gibson Country Western
This is an outstanding tone-monster of a guitar. Crack free and in very good condition. Basically identical to a Hummingbird but with a different pick guard. The main thing to know about this guitar is that the original plastic bridge has been mercifully replaced with a beautiful Brazilian Rosewood bridge that looks to be the Gibson bridge that came on this model the previous year. Judging by the work viewed in a mirror underneath the top, the replacement was done quite a long time ago.
Such a sought after model that Gibson now makes a replica 1963 Murphy Lab Country Western with an Aged Top. Sheryl Crow’s number one acoustic (her “Moneymaker“) is also a 1963 Country Western.
There is some natural play wear, crazing, scruffs etc on the top as you would expect on a 60 year old acoustic.
The nut is 1 and 21/32.
An outstanding vintage Gibson acoustic
