The real deal. This is a genuine 1966 Höfner 500/1. The exact model Paul McCartney made famous with The Beatles. Factory dating confirmed by the 250K volume pot stamp (February 1966 assembly).
Both original staple pickups are fully functional. All controls and hardware work as they should. Cosmetically, the bass shows honest age: a few minor nicks and the original shellac finish has the crazing typical of these instruments. I purchased this bass in 1982 and it has been kept in a climate controlled environment for the past 44 years. No repairs, no refinish, no surprises.
