RARE! 1971 Martin 000-28 LEFTY - Natural w/ HSC

Up for sale is a beautiful and incredibly rare factory left-handed 1971 Martin 000-28, in very good condition and perfect working order. We’ve just given it a professional setup with a set of 11-52 gauge strings, and it plays wonderfully with a straight neck, low action, and truly exceptional tone. It also benefits from a recent professional neck reset. Additionally, the bridge saddle has been filled and repositioned to address the common 1970s Martin intonation issue. This guitar is dialed in and needs nothing.

Cosmetically, the guitar is very clean and has clearly been well cared for over the years. That said, it does show some mild, typical wear, including a few tiny dings, pick scratches, swirl marks, and light surface scratches throughout. There’s also a bit of mild finish checking on the top but it’s too insignificant to photograph properly but can be seen in the right light. And the scratch on the side of the neck is just that, a scratch in the finish and not a crack. The original frets are in excellent condition, showing only minor wear on frets 1–5 (mostly under the plain strings). There are no cracks or breaks, though you can see the beginnings of the infamous “B-string” pickguard crack. At present, this is just a finish/lacquer check, and given its age, we don’t anticipate it developing beyond that. There is also some very light finish checking in a few spots, though it was difficult to capture in photos. Importantly, there’s no bellying, top sag, bridge issues, or any other structural concerns. Left-handed examples like this are extremely rare, and they don’t come up for sale often. The guitar comes with what appears to be the original hard shell case but we’re not 100% sure.
