Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a unique Astatic model D-104 crystal microphone from the 1940's or 1950's that has an original non-working crystal element and will need a new crystal or dynamic element to operate. This will make a fine display piece in any vintage mic collection as well due to it's superb physical condition.
Pic # 2 is from my 1950's Astatic microphone catalog and shows the mics specs and cost.
This D-104 was manufactured by Astatic in Youngstown, Ohio and was to be used as a public address mic as it's non-directional. It was a very popular design for this company and they continued to make the D-104 for many decades retaining the same overall style but this was a D-104 with the early riveted aluminum badge and the badge looks as good as the day it was sold.
The polished chrome body is free of any deep scratches, pitting, corrosion or dents. I would rate the cosmetic condition a very conservative 9 on a scale of of 1 - 10 but again, non-working condition.
These mic heads need an Astatic F-11 or SC-11 adapter which will allow you to screw the mic onto any desk or floor stand you have. These mic heads also seat on several Astatic G stands and others.
SC-11 MICROPHONE ADAPTER SHOWN WITH MIC IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
As with all my vintage microphones for sale...
