Rare 1970s Gemson GJ-400 DX (Terada Gakki) - "Everly Style" Jumbo Acoustic - MIJ Japan Vintage

Gemson is an exceptionally obscure, vintage "lawsuit-era" Japanese brand manufactured by Terada Gakki in the 1970s. Because these guitars were produced in very limited numbers and rarely leave Japan, they almost never appear on Western marketplaces.

Description:

Up for sale is a rare piece of Japanese guitar history: a Gemson GJ-400 DX, crafted by the legendary Terada Gakki factory in the 1970s.

Terada Gakki is world-renowned for producing high-end Gretsch and Epiphone Elitist models, and this vintage "Gemson" is a testament to their early craftsmanship.

Comes with Gig Bag(Ritter oversized)

Model Highlights:

  • Iconic Design: A stunning homage to the Gibson J-200 / Everly Brothers style, featuring the distinctive oversized "double pickguards" and a jumbo body that delivers a huge, resonant sound.
  • Classic Headstock: Features the sought-after "Open Book" style headstock common in the Lawsuit era.
  • Build Quality: Solid Japanese construction from the golden era of MIJ (Made in Japan) guitars. It has a rich, punchy tone with the characteristic "thump" of a well-aged jumbo body.

Condition:

  • Body: Excellent vintage condition with minor nicks and swirls consistent with age. Solid Spruce Top, laminate Rosewood Sides and Back
  • Mahogany Neck: Straight neck, comfortable C-shape profile.
  • Frets: Plenty of life left, approx. 70-80%, dressed, crowned and polished
  • Playability: Low action, easy to play across the entire fretboard

Why Gemson?
Gemson was a rare house brand used by Terada Gakki (famous for their "Thumb" brand). Finding a "GJ-400 DX" in this configuration is quite difficult, making it a unique addition for any collector of Japanese Lawsuit-era guitars.

Guitar Condition (Good players condition for both players and collectors! with low action)

Straight neck and the truss rod you can still turn some more
