For sale is an exceptionally rare vintage 1980s Sony C-536P side address small-diaphragm condenser microphone - the side address counterpart to the legendary Sony C-535P, sharing the same capsule design and sonic character in a unique side-address format.
This particular unit is in excellent working condition with a beautifully preserved original finish and clean grille.
The pad switch functions properly, the original green alignment triangle is fully intact, and serial number 2949 is clearly marked at the XLR base.
Includes the original Sony mic clip.
The microphone will be packed carefully and shipped fully insured.
Produced in relatively small numbers and rarely seen outside Japan, the C-536P has developed a cult following among engineers for its smooth, natural top end and unusually rich, velvety character for a small diaphragm condenser.
It became especially well known after the Sony C-535P won Tape Op’s famous 44-microphone blind shootout against several far more expensive classics, including the Neumann KM84.
Often considered one of Sony’s hidden gems, a true “secret weapon” microphone equally at home on acoustic instruments, percussion, overheads, piano, ambience, and vocals requiring a more natural, intimate presentation.
This microphone operates on standard 48V phantom power and includes a built-in -10dB pad for high SPL sources.
