G&L Legacy (first year production Tribute Korea 2003),Natural gloss finish on Ash , Fullerton USA 2017 left handed replacement neck,-rosewood board , fender locking tuners, CLF-100 vintage Alnicos

This is a completely un-altered 2003 G&L Korean built Legacy body (manufactured by CortCo ) in the first year of Korean production of the G&L Tribute Model guitars.

At this first year stage of production for tributes, all parts and hardware were shipped from Fullerton California. This included the G&L CLR-100 Vintage Alnico single coil pickups. These are the same pickups used on the American Legacies at the time.

After assembly in Korea, the Tributes were all sent back to Fullerton for inspection and setups. I bought this body complete, except for the neck.

To complete this guitar, I added a 2017 Left Handed Fullerton Legacy neck. The neck was a replacement purchased by someone else in 2017 from the G&L online store. I had to re-inlay the Pearl dots, as they had been filled. The board has a 12" radius and the nut width is 1-5/8ths. it weighs in at just over 9 lbs.

I installed a new bone nut with the "righty" configuration, and then installed the neck on the body ( its first installation). I added a set of Fender locking tuners from a Jim Root tele.

if you look on line for the history of Tribute manufacture, you'll find that production in Korea lasted only 2 years. some production was occurring in Japan as well; but production was shifted to Indonesia in 2005.

Many players considered the Quality of these Korean built Tributes to be every bit the equal of their American counterparts. The use of American parts and Hardware, and their return to the USA for inspection and set up also made them much less cost effective for G&L. This body is a solid 2-piece nicely matched ASH, with impeccable Cort gloss finish. It is hard to find this quality anywhere 22 years later.
