1967 Gibson ES-330 TDC - Sparkling Burgundy Metallic

1967 Gibson ES-330 TDC in factory "Sparkling Burgundy Metallic" finish is rare and highly collectible. Gibson's answer to Fender's popular "Candy Apple Red," utilizing a metallic gold undercoat with a translucent red topcoat that ages into a gorgeous, distinct bronze or copper-like patina over time and exposure to the elements. This rare finish was only available for two years on ES-330’s (1967-1968). The finish has aged beautifully, vibrant front and back with plenty of weather checking as expected for nearly 60 years old, giving this guitar incredible visual appeal.

  • Signature chrome-plated trapeze tailpiece, dual dogear P-90 pickups, individual volume and tone controls for each pickup with Top Hat reflector knobs, as well as a 3-way toggle switch for pickup selection, and an ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge with metal saddles.
  • A comfortable, rounded "C" late-'60s mahogany neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard and pearl block inlays.
  • Highly praised by expert reviewers for its lively acoustic resonance and crisp, clear midrange bite when plugged in.
  • Grover tuners.
  • Brass nut.
  • No pick guard or hardware.
  • Original Gibson black with red interior, five latch hardshell case.

The ES-330 is loved for its lightweight fully hollow construction, lively resonance, and unmistakable vintage Gibson tone. A fantastic example with the looks, and vibe that make these so desirable. A hollow body electric guitar is built like an acoustic guitar—featuring a completely hollow sound chamber and signature "F-holes". It delivers a warm, woody, and highly resonant tone. Sounds great acoustically and amplified.

Anatomy and Sound

  • Construction: The body is constructed like an acoustic guitar.

  • The "F-Hole": Borrowed from violins, these cutouts project the guitar’s natural volume.

Pros & Cons

  • Advantages: Exceptionally lightweight and incredibly warm clean tones. Ideal for studio work and styles that don't require heavy distortion.
  • Drawbacks: Highly susceptible to audio feedback at high volumes or when paired with heavy gain.
