This unit obviously is not rack mountable. And should be viewed as a main layer of protection before distributing to equipment.
Most ‘surge suppressors’ employ an MOV on all 3 power legs. Metal oxide varistors are sacrificial. After a number of surges they can simply quit working. It’s that simple.
