The TASCAM 112mkII was a true studio workhorse, built for professional musicians, broadcasters, and production facilities. Introduced in 1994 with a retail price of $920 — roughly equivalent to nearly $1,800 today — it was designed for serious mastering, mixdown, and daily production use. This unit is fitted with the rare LA-112 module, adding balanced XLR inputs and outputs for seamless integration into professional studio racks and patch bays.

Loaded with high-end features, the 112mkII includes Dolby B & C noise reduction with HX Pro Headroom Extension, ±12% pitch control with dedicated on/off switch, and automatic tape type sensing for Normal (Type I), Chrome (Type II), and Metal (Type IV) cassettes. Additional professional functions include dual locate points, repeat playback, and Return-to-Zero (RTZ). Convenient front-panel input and output level controls make operation straightforward in both studio and live production environments.

On the rear panel, you’ll find standard RCA inputs/outputs, balanced XLR connections, and a remote-control serial port. The deck occupies three rack spaces, measures just 14" deep, and weighs under 20 lbs.

Condition:

These rare decks is in excellent condition with only minor signs of use. All original knobs are present, and the attached AC power cord is included.
Importantly, the notorious factory C-gear has already been replaced with a professionally manufactured injection-molded gear — not a fragile 3D-printed substitute. The original incandescent meter lamps have also been upgraded to long-lasting two-segment LEDs.
Service Performed (2023)

When acquired in 2023, the following maintenance and service work was completed:
• Capstan belt replaced with a high-quality neoprene belt
• Audio levels calibrated and balanced
• Tape path cleaned and heads demagnetized
• Factory C-gear replaced with durable injection-molded gear
• Two-segment LED meter lighting installed in place of original incandescent bulbs
