There are some tiny, rice-grain-sized scratches on the back that are visible when held up to the light, and fine hairline scratches all over the body, but considering it was made in 2011, the condition is good. The neck is generally straight, and the string height is approximately 2.6mm at the 12th fret of the 6th string and approximately 1.6mm above the 12th fret of the 1st string, making it easy to play. A rare model produced exclusively in Japan! Please take this opportunity to get your hands on one.

2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the original 000-42EC, which was produced in limited quantities in 1995 and sold out immediately, and is still fresh in the memories of Clapton fans. The partnership between Martin and Eric Clapton on signature models began with the attractive 000-42EC.

The model we're introducing today is the "Martin 000-42ECJM" (Japan Limited Madagascal), a limited edition of only 100 units produced in Japan in 2011.

This special signature model was created as a tribute to the 1939 000-42 used by Eric Clapton on MTV Unplugged. It features an old-style horizontal logo on the headstock, and uses carefully selected premium-grade Adirondack spruce for the top and Madagascar rosewood for the sides and back, a now rare material. The deep bass reminiscent of vintage Martins, the lustrous and three-dimensional midrange, and the delicately expanding harmonics are beautifully combined, resulting in a level of perfection truly worthy of being called a "work of art to be felt when played."

The exterior features luxurious abalone trim throughout, characteristic of the Style 42, and snowflake and cat's eye inlays on the fingerboard. This guitar meticulously pursues vintage aesthetics down to the smallest detail, from its 1930s-style headstock shape and long saddle to its tortoiseshell pickguard. Furthermore, the aged toner gives it a dignified look, reminiscent of a well-played old Martin.

In terms of sound, its responsiveness and expressiveness in fingerstyle playing are outstanding, responding to even the most delicate touches with rich nuance. Each note has a core yet is soft, with a beautiful sweetness in single notes, expansive chords, and lingering overtones—a refined sound reminiscent of Eric Clapton's signature tone. Of course, it also boasts excellent balance in strumming, offering a surprisingly wide range of sound for its compact 000 size.

Due to its limited production run and its rarity as a Japan-only model, it is extremely rare to find on the market today, and its value as a collector's item is increasing year by year.
