Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a high quality studio mic made by Electro Voice for about 20 years from the early 1970's to about the early 1990's that was part of the RE-10, RE-11, RE-15 & RE-16 family. This particular example was made in 1986 in Buchanan, Michigan and come with it's original E.V 310 model mic clip.

The RE-11 was a very popular and desirable mic that is excellent for vocals such as broadcasting and singing.

Pic # 2 shows this very model along with several other RE family mics as well as their basic characteristics.

The RE-11 has a warm, smooth tone that isn't bass heavy though it does have the bass drop off switch on the lower handle so that you can adjust the tone of the mic and it works perfectly. The mic was rated ay 150 OHMS which has more of a mid range tone to it.

The RE-11 came with the larger pop filter giving the user more protection from unwanted "pops" while live so you can really lean into the mic and not worry about distortion.

Many don't know that the RE-11 was basically just an RE-10 and RE-15 mic. When E.V built these mics back in the day they were quite expensive and every single mic went through testing for frequency response. The best of the best mics got the RE-15 label. The next step down was the RE-10 and then the RE-11. The machines could tell the difference but to the human ear you'd be very hard pressed to know any difference at all.

These mics utilized the same handles and elements. The only physical difference were the screens used.

This mic has been tested and cleaned by myself. It's got a 100% signal and sounds great.

I did have to replace the inner foam pop filters as they were falling apart and not doing their job at all. I had to replace the top and rear filters but the mic is ready to go for another 50 years easy. Everything is tight on this mic and I cleaned the XLR pins to ensure a perfect signal as they were very tarnished.

As you can see the stock painted handle looks pretty nice. Just lite scuff marks and scratches. The RE-11 label looks very nice and completely legible. The chrome screens look fantastic with zero wear or odors.

Overall the mic is a solid 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10 though many would rate higher.

The mic comes with it's original E.V 310 model mic clip that grips the mic very well and can be screwed onto any desk or floor stand you have. The mic clip shows just very lite cosmetic wear.
