Avalon Design M5 Pure Class A High Voltage Preamplifier w/ External B2t PSU — Rare Discontinued Version

The Avalon M5 with the external B2t power supply is one of the most sought-after versions of this legendary preamp — and for good reason. Separating the power supply from the audio circuitry is the gold standard for noise-floor performance, and this configuration has been discontinued, making it increasingly hard to find.

What you’re getting:

This unit is in very good condition and, most importantly, passes audio perfectly and sounds absolutely incredible — warm, open, and three-dimensional in that unmistakable Avalon way. Pure Class A, high voltage design doing exactly what it was built to do.

One cosmetic/functional note:

The VU meter lamp is intermittent — it illuminates when it wants to. Audio is completely unaffected. This is a well-documented, inexpensive fix (a bulb replacement), but I simply didn’t want to deal with the time and shipping involved in getting it serviced. A tech could sort this out quickly and cheaply but there aren’t any in my state(DE).
