Made in the 1970s, this classical acoustic guitar was imported from Japan by the Elger Company in Pennsylvania which eventually became the foundation for Ibanez USA. Built in the golden era of Japanese guitar manufacturing (Hoshino Gakki Factory), this guitar offers incredible build quality, tone woods and craftsmanship that rivals many modern classicals twice its price. The guitar features a traditional D-shaped mahogany neck typical of many 1970s classicals, offering a substantial platform for chords and nice grounding anchor for the thumb. The nylon strings offer a soft feel beneath the fingertips offering a smoother playability to many steel string acoustics. The guitar sounds excellent, delivering a rich, woody resonance, a sweet, mellow low-end response and a warm mid-range which compliments, acoustic melodies, bossa nova chords, and folk fingerpicking. Cosmetically, this guitar is in good used condition showing some minor playwear and scratching around the body (See photos provided). The neck is straight, the intonation is spot on and the action is excellent. There is minimal fret wear apparent from previous use and this guitar is set up with nylon strings, weighing in at 3 pounds, 6 ounces.
