IMPORTANT UPDATE :

I only noticed today—while comparing it with my other similar guitars—that the bridge pickup on this one has a slightly lower output. On the other hand, the neck pickup is very strong.

I tried to identify and fix the issue, and I think the bridge pick up works half way. The original pots appear to be working properly as well as the cables. in order the send a fully working guitar, I have bought and installed a Gotoh Pickups/HB-Classic-Zebra-Bridge (worth around 50 USD) . The original bridge maxon pick up will of course be included, in case you can fix it.

In the interest of full transparency, and due to this detail, I have decided to lower the price.

Aside from this, the guitar is in excellent condition. Please see the description below, and feel free to ask any further questions.

Based on the bolt-on neck construction, lack of serial number, embossed Greco pickup covers, Maxon pickups, and six-screw cavity plate, this guitar appears to be an early/mid-1970s Greco Les Paul copy, most likely an EG-450 or EG-480 from approximately 1973–1975.

But anyway, this is a great guitar in excellent condition considering its age, especially with its beautiful and rather rare sunburst color and pattern, which makes it feel quite unique. I could not find another example online exactly like this one.

The neck and frets feel almost unused, as if the guitar belonged to a collector. I would estimate the frets still have around 70% life left, probably even more. The neck is straight, and the truss rod adjusts properly in both directions.

Everything is original except for the toggle switch, which I replaced. However, the original switch will be included in case you would like to repair or keep it.

The guitar is currently in great playing condition, but in the future I would recommend replacing the pots and possibly some of the wiring if originality is not a concern. These old electronics naturally deteriorate over time, and some of the cloth wiring is beginning to fray. I own three very similar models, and on one of them I replaced the pots and had the electronics professionally re-soldered, which noticeably improved both the feel and sound.

That said, this particular guitar currently has no crackling issues at all — this is only a recommendation for long-term maintenance or future upgrading.

There are some scratches and small dings consistent with age, but nothing major or particularly noticeable.

COMES WITH HARD-CARE, (most likely original to the guitar) so rest assure it will travel safely to your country.

the reason consider this guitar being a EG 450 OR 480 FROM 73-76:

Maxon U-series pickups, often called “U-1000”

no serial number

  • embossed Greco pickup covers
  • bolt-on neck
  • six-screw cavity cover
  • Maxon-stamped pickups

A very affordable alternative to a 1970s Gibson Les Paul with plenty of vintage Japanese character and great playability.
