"A miraculous combination of scalloped X-bracing and a large pickguard"

Gibson / 1955 J-45

This guitar, aged over 70 years, exudes an overwhelming presence.

The small pickguard of the early 1950s became a large pickguard in 1955, and adjustable bridges began to be adopted in 1956. Gibson flat-top guitars underwent various specification changes from the 1950s to the 1960s.

Among its many features, the combination of scalloped X-bracing and a large pickguard is said to exist only in 1955.

This configuration produces a unique, raw, and rich tone—a J-45 with a truly special sound unlike any other. For those seeking such a guitar, this is a must-try.

Imagine being approached by someone while out and about, saying, "Wow, what a cool guitar!" If you can then share the special story and tone of this instrument, it will be truly admirable.

Thinking about it, I envy those born in 1955.

Because such a magnificent instrument was being made in the year of their birth.

In the vast history of the J-45, only 1432 were manufactured in 1955.

How many of those still exist today?

Such a precious vintage J-45 would undoubtedly become a lifelong partner.

While possessing a vintage appearance, the wood condition and playability are exceptional.

This particular guitar has no cracks, the original painted pickguard is still beautifully intact, and there are no signs of repairs around it.

70 years after its manufacture, the probability of finding a J-45 with such a well-preserved, crack-free original pickguard among the 1432 J-45s produced is miraculous. Since there aren't many of these guitars in circulation to begin with, being able to choose one in this condition is nothing short of a rare opportunity.

It has undoubtedly been played in a variety of styles over the years, and yet it still retains its wonderful tone and condition.

It possesses the value and sound to be a lifelong partner for years to come.
