For sale is an original dbx 3BX with an included 3BX-R remote — all in good working condition and featuring original 1970’s packaging materials and manuals. Released in the late 1970s and utilizing the VCA circuitry developed by dbx founder David Blackmer, the dbx 3BX is a legendary 3-band dynamic range expander designed to restore the live impact lost in compressed audio recordings. By independently expanding the bass, midrange, and treble frequencies, the main chassis provides up to a 50% increase in dynamic range, complete with detailed LED visual monitoring for each band. This listing includes both the original 3BX unit and the rare 3BX-R remote control, which vastly expands the system's capabilities beyond the front panel. The included remote allows you to control overall expansion levels and master system volume directly from your listening position while unlocking exclusive features like variable release time adjustment (to tailor the expansion to a specific envelope), an automatic fade function for smooth transitions, and a bypass switch for instant A/B comparison. For a 40+ year-old unit, this dbx 3BX and 3BX-R is in shockingly good functional condition (asides from some rusting on the RCA connectors), and aesthetically looks excellent. The unit will be meticulously packaged with original 1970’s packaging materials and shipped via UPS.
