Up for sale is a stunningly preserved pair of Electrophonic Model 04-H Quadraphonic headphones. These are a true relic of the 1970s "Space Age" audio era, designed for true 4-channel surround sound. Unlike standard stereo headphones, these Japanese-made units were engineered to provide an immersive, multi-directional listening experience that is becoming increasingly hard to find in this condition.
Cosmetic Condition - These headphones are in exceptional cosmetic shape.
Housing: The cream-colored shells are bright, clean, and free of the heavy yellowing or deep gouges often seen on gear of this age.
Hardware: The metal headband and adjustment sliders remain shiny.
Originality: This unit is 100% all-original, including the ear pads and the distinctive dual 1/4-inch plugs required for quadraphonic playback.
Audio Performance & Technical NoteSound: Fully tested and they sound absolutely amazing. They deliver a warm, vintage analog punch that modern headphones struggle to replicate.
The Cord: Please note that the main cord has a loose connection right where it enters the headphone housing. While they currently work, the audio may cut out if the wire is moved.
The Fix: This is a very straightforward fix for anyone with basic soldering skills. A quick internal re-termination will have these back to 100% reliability while allowing you to keep the original factory wiring intact, preserving the collector value.
