Danelectro 56-U2 Reissue | Nifty Aqua | Korean-Made, c. 1998–2003
Up for sale is a stunning Danelectro 56-U2 reissue in the iconic Nifty Aqua finish, one of the most eye-catching colors Danelectro ever offered. The body is clean with no notable dings or cracks, and the gloss finish pops beautifully.
The guitar features a semi-hollow Masonite top and back over a poplar/plywood frame, bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fretboard and dot inlays, 25” scale length, 1-5/8” nut width, and approximately 14” radius. It has 21 frets, two classic lipstick tube single-coil pickups, a 3-way selector switch, stacked volume and tone controls per pickup, a rosewood/metal stop tailpiece, and chrome hardware throughout.
Modifications: The original tuners have been replaced with quality Schaller “Made in Germany” tuners, a genuine upgrade in tuning stability and feel. Please note the original tuner holes were not filled prior to installation, so extra holes are visible on the back of the headstock. This is reflected in the price.
Condition: Excellent overall. Body and neck are clean, and the upgraded tuners hold tune wonderfully.
These Korean reissues are beloved for capturing the vibe and tone of the original 1956 U2 at a fraction of the vintage price. If you play surf, garage, country, or indie, this guitar delivers that unmistakable Danelectro twang in spades.
