2002 Gibson Flying V Faded W/Ebony Fretboard and Crescent Moon Inlays Cherry

Includes certificate, case candy.

I would actually consider this "excellent" condition myself, but always list conservatively.

This one has not been played much. Very clean. It lives in my pet-free, smoke-free climate-controlled studio. It has regular cleanings and re-stringing, handled with extreme care. .

The 2002 Gibson Flying V "Crescent Moon" (often referred to as the Flying V Faded) is a highly sought-after, limited-run variation of the classic Flying V. It is most famous among guitarists for featuring a premium ebony fretboard with distinctive crescent moon inlays, a premium wood choice that Gibson later swapped for rosewood.

Key Specs & Features

• Body & Neck: Lightweight mahogany body and neck with a faded/satin finish.
• Fretboard: Rare dark ebony fingerboard with unbound edges and crescent moon "pearloid" (is that even a word?) inlays.
• Pickups: Gibson USA 496R (neck) and 500T (bridge) ceramic humbuckers, known for high-output, aggressive, and hot-rodded tones.
• Hardware: Chrome hardware, Tune-O-Matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, and Gibson Deluxe tuners.
• Production Run: Produced for a very limited window (primarily in 2002 before being discontinued in mid-2003)

Why Collectors Love It

While the "Faded" series was initially marketed as an affordable, stripped-down alternative to Gibson's glossy flagship models, the inclusion of an ebony board and the unique moon inlays makes these an increasingly rare find. Because Gibson custom shop models no longer use ebony for these tiers, the 2002 Crescent Moon V remains a prized, unique piece for collectors

As a drummer who owns many guitars, I don't really play any of them all that often. . . . but they look killer as decoration in my smoke-free, climate-controlled studio. They do get some playing time by the musicians who come to jam and/or record. Therefore, I keep all my guitars in tune, feather dusted, fretboards dressed and will re-string them when necessary. All have had a professional set-up by my local Indianapolis Luthier Grandon Westlund (GW Basses).

My feedback score and online store reputation are important to me. I am an individual independent seller. I will "officially" list the item condition conservatively as all interpretations of the grading scale are highly subjective.

Important to note - During the first 30 days of listing (if it lasts that long) I will not have the "make an offer" active. If you are a serious buyer, please "message seller" and ask questions and/or provide rationale for any offer you might have.

Please understand: I am always open to discuss with a serious buyer, but have had way too many lowball offers on my listings over the years (I am sure you have also). I try to price it right on my first listing, but at times you, the buyer, might know more than me about what I am listing. It won't hurt my feelings. If I missed something, let's talk. I'm not one of those musicians who thinks they know everything about everything. . . .

Shipping:

Insured shipping only to a verified US address (unless otherwise specified in the auction shipping details).

·I don't try to make any profit on shipping/handling. I just want the gear to get to you safe.

·I use the Reverb shipping calculator to be as accurate as possible.

·For heavy-duty boxes, I purchase these at Lowes.

·I will custom-make boxes at times to save costs at the buyers request.

·I try to use recycled boxes and packaging where possible.

Your package might not look beautiful, but will be packed like a tank and I'll take all possible shipping precautions.

Shipping Estimates are based on these “typical” considerations

·Electric Guitar/Bass Box: Generally, 52" x 20" x 8".

·Other gear: I try to custom-make recycled boxes (Amazon, etc.) which minimize shipping costs but maintain high protection.

·Weight Limit: Unless the instrument is extremely heavy, the total weight will likely be under 30 lbs for standard rates.

·Packing Material: Packed with enough padding (bubble wrap, peanuts, etc.) to prevent movement inside the box and optimal protection.
