The Gibson J-45 Century 12-Fret honors the legacy of this historic model, maintaining its sonic identity while reinterpreting it through a 12-fret configuration. This construction choice alters the relationship between the neck and body, shortening the perceived scale length and shifting the bridge toward the most active point of the soundboard, resulting in a broader, deeper, and more responsive tonal range characterized by notable openness in the lower frequencies and increased dynamic sensitivity.

The body is constructed with solid mahogany back and sides, paired with a solid Sitka spruce top, a classic combination that ensures warmth, balance, and natural projection. The 12-fret design contributes to a freer vibration of the soundboard, enhancing the harmonic component of the instrument without compromising definition and clarity.

The mahogany neck with a SlimTaper 12-Fret profile is designed to provide speed and comfort along the entire fretboard. It is joined to the body via a composite dovetail joint with hot animal glue, in line with Gibson's traditional construction methods, ensuring structural stability and optimal vibration transmission.

The rosewood fretboard features 19 frets, with elegant mother-of-pearl dot inlays contributing to a sober and refined aesthetic.

Completing the assembly are a bone nut and saddle, as well as a rosewood bridge with a slightly rounded rectangular profile, inspired by the early J-45 models, equipped with TUSQ pins.
