1993 Epiphone Casino Vintage Electric Guitar Cherry Japan Pre-Elitist w/ Case
Up for sale a 1993 Epiphone Casino in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced in Japan at the Terada factory and featuring a rare gloss Cherry finish, this is an uncommon and early Epiphone reissue which preceded the current "Elitist" line. Acoustically, the fully hollow all-maple body has a smooth, bright tone which works well with the original pair of P-90 pickups. These pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange bark, and a glassy, percussive quality. Whether you want articulate cleans or thick overdrive, these pickups can produce either with ease and with a refinement far beyond most other modern Casino reissues. The guitar is featherweight at only 6lbs 6oz.
The maple neck has a slender C profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and a fast feel, measuring .795" deep at the 1st fret and graduating to .905" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is an extremely dark and tight-grained cut featuring pearl trapezoid inlay and practically perfect original medium jumbo frets which have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns. The frets also have vintage-spec fret edge binding, a feature only seen on the last years of Terada factory Casino production. The guitar plays cleanly in every register with an ideally adjusted truss rod and low action all the way to the last fret. The original hand-carved bone nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock retains the original Kluson-style nickel tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.
The electronics are untouched, with nickel pickup covers on the P-90s and gold reflector cap knobs on the Volume and Tone controls. The nickel ABR-1 bridge has the correct "Made in Japan" text on the underside, and the orange oval label visible through the F hole has the correct five digit serial for Terada factory production. The hardware shows a light speckling of surface patina, and cosmetic wear is limited to one small finish scratch on top just north of the bridge, a few light scuffs central to the lower bout on the back, one small ding on the treble-side headstock corner, and a few very small lighter pinkish spots on the bass-side of the body between the front and back binding. The guitar does have a slight smokey odor which dissipates once the guitar has been out of its case.
This Epiphone Casino is rare, discontinued iteration made in Japan to standards that equal (and in some cases exceed) the current Elitist reissues.
The original black tolex hardshell case with gold plush interior is included. The case does have a somewhat smokey odor too.
