1-of-1 Custom DW 5”x13” Colombian Rosewood Stave Shell Snare Drum w Die Cast Hoops

For your consideration, a 5” x 13” DW 10-Lug Columbian Rosewood Stave Shell Snare Drum with Chrome Hardware. Includes soft case not pictured.

DW Die Cast Hoops, Magnetic Throwoff with 3-Position Strainer, True Pitch Tension Rods, Puresound 20-strand Snares, etc.

Never gigged. Flawless condition.  Never left my smoke-free pet-free studio.  Fresh heads.

The shell was produced by Fierce Drum Co in Arizona about 10 years ago, who also assembled the drum.  The hardware was all purchased new from DW – including the lugs, which DW generally does not sell without an exchange.  Brand new, bright chrome, gorgeous.

Praised for clarity and sound, Colombian Rosewood is frequently used for acoustic guitar back and sides as an alternative to the endangered Brazilian Rosewood.  It both looks and sounds absolutely stunning.  The dense, bright, reflective tonewood combined with the DW Die Cast Hoops produces a resonant “crack” unlike any wooden drum I’ve heard – with the possible exception of Brady Drums from Australia.

I do want to address this question pre-purchase – is it “a real DW drum?”  Everything on the drum is 100% authentic, produced by and purchased from Drum Workshop, directly – except the shell.  DW has never offered shells in the wood species, shell configuration, or thickness that I wanted when imagining these drums.

Is an Orange County Chopper a “Harley” – even though Harley only produced the motor?

If you’re an absolute DW purist, maybe these aren’t for you.  If you’re a collector interested in legitimate 1-of-1 custom snare drums, you’ll never see another like this one.  The look and sound are truly unique – and incredible. You're getting the precision and functionality of DW with a sound that they have never offered.
