Mid-century Philips Norelco B1X12A/54 Table Top Radio

This Mid-Century Modern Philips B1X12A/54 table top radio (marketed in North America as the Norelco B1X12A/54) is a vintage tube radio manufactured in the Netherlands around 1961–1962. It is part of the "Plano" series, recognized for its sleek, wide-profile "European modern" styling that was popular in the early 1960s.  The radio is housed in a Bakelite "Philite" cabinet featuring a large backlit dial glass with tuning indications in various languages and a metal selector plate with five center and four outer plastic selector push buttons and two round plastic power/volume and tuning knobs. Includes a working green "magic eye" (tuning indicator tube) to help users find the strongest station signal.  

This radio has AM Broadcast, Long, Medium, Short Wave and FM VHF bands. This radio has a superheterodyne tube-based receiver (ZF/IF 452/10700 kHz) with seven vacuum tubes/valves and features the "Bi-Ampli" circuit design, which uses separate amplification for high and low frequencies to improve sound quality.  Includes 6 AM and 9 FM circuits and two mono aural speakers. The antenna includes an internal "Ferroceptor" ferrite rod antennas for AM/LW and a built-in dipole for FM.  Includes DIN connectors for external tape recorders or phono inputs and ports for an external antenna, earth ground, gramophone (PU), and an extra loudspeaker.  The rear turntable input can be used to connect a Bluetooth Amplifier to allow you to listen to your favorite music from your iPhone, CD, computer with the warm sound that old radios have. This radio was manufactured with an internal alternating current (AC) voltage selector that goes to 110, 127, 145 and 220V, making the radio compatible for many countries without using external transformers.  Tested and works on the FM band but was unable to pull in stations on the other bands. 

Measures 550 x 230 x 210 mm / 21.7 x 9.1 x 8.3 inch and weighs 7 kg / 15 lb 6.7 oz (15.419 lb).
