Epiphone Firebird VII in Cardinal Red from the early 2000s. The guitar has been played a lot, well broken in, and has a nice natural relic (dings, scratches & patina).
Modifications made compared to factory specs:
Custom-made bone nut from Hathor Guitars
New Gotoh locking tuners
Set of hand-wound, low output Q Pickups made like the old Gibson Firebirds (these are not the same as mini humbuckers and don't sound like mini humbuckers)
The factory pickups are included for free New plastics on tremolo arm from Crazy Parts The guitar has different wiring than the factory setup, which I find much more functional: The three-position switch works as if there is no middle pickup (like in a Les Paul), meaning:
Up: neck pickup only
Middle: both outer pickups
Down: bridge pickup only
The knobs are set up like in a Les Paul: volume and tone for the neck, volume and tone for the bridge
So what does the middle pickup do? A push-pull is installed in the bridge volume knob that adds the middle pickup (like in a Strat) to the currently selected position. This allows for Strat-like tones in positions 2 and 4. This makes the guitar go from being just "interesting" to a truly versatile instrument
