Up for sale is a vintage Tokai TE-60RR Breezysound, made in Japan, likely from 1981 based on the serial number and model style.

This is a very rare and highly appealing Tokai Telecaster-style model with an All Rosewood-style dark brown transparent finish, a 1-piece solid sen body, and what appear to be the original Tokai single-coil pickups. Among vintage Japanese Tele-style guitars, this TE-60RR is a particularly interesting model because it combines classic Telecaster construction with a much more distinctive and collectible visual identity.

One of the most important features of this guitar is the body. This example features a 1-piece solid sen body, with the grain running beautifully across the front and back. Sen is a wood often associated with vintage Japanese guitars and is visually similar to ash due to its strong and expressive grain pattern. On this guitar, the dark transparent finish allows the wood grain to remain clearly visible, giving it a deep, elegant, and very vintage look.

The TE-60RR is not a common Breezysound model. While many Tokai TE models were produced in more traditional finishes, this RR version has the look and atmosphere of the famous rosewood Telecaster concept. It is not simply a standard Tele-style guitar — it has a much more unique presence, making it a great choice for collectors of vintage Japanese instruments, Tokai fans, and players looking for something different from the usual blond or sunburst Tele models.

Another great point is the weight. This guitar weighs only approx. 7.39 lbs / 3.35 kg, which is a very comfortable and resonant weight for a Tele-style guitar. It feels lively in the hands, with a nice acoustic response and strong body resonance. Combined with the 1-piece solid sen body and original Tokai pickups, this guitar has a very open, direct, and musical vintage character.

The pickups appear to be original to the guitar. The bridge pickup has the classic Tele-style bite, clarity, and snap, while the neck pickup offers a warmer and smoother tone. The guitar delivers a direct and lively response with a clear vintage Tele character, making it suitable for classic rock, blues, country, funk, indie, recording work, and vintage Japanese guitar collections.

Other details include a Tokai-stamped bridge plate, string-through-body construction, rosewood fingerboard, black pickguard, chrome control plate, 3-way selector, and vintage-style tuners. The combination of the rare TE-60RR specification, 1-piece sen body, original pickups, lightweight body, and early-1980s Tokai build quality makes this a very special example of a vintage Japanese Breezysound.

The serial number on the neck plate is 1019926.

A vintage-style hard case is included.

(Collector’s Point)

This TE-60RR is especially attractive because it features a rare combination of an All Rosewood-style finish, a 1-piece solid sen body, original Tokai pickups, a Tokai-stamped bridge plate, and a very comfortable lightweight body at approx. 7.39 lbs / 3.35 kg. It is not a common Breezysound variant and has a very distinctive early-1980s Japanese vintage character.
