A rare and beautiful piece of Japanese guitar history — the Aria Pro II TA Black ‘N’ Gold, serial #2090003, dating to approximately 1982. Made in Japan by the legendary Matsumoku factory, this semi-hollow thinline archtop features a stunning gloss black finish with aged cream binding — a combination that gives it that unmistakable vintage flair.
What you get:
• Semi-hollow double-cutaway body with f-holes and multi-ply cream binding
• Dual gold-top humbuckers (original to the guitar)
• Tune-o-matic-style bridge with stop tailpiece
• Gold hardware throughout
• Rosewood fretboard with dot inlays — frets in very good condition
• Neck is straight — plays great, ready to go
• Serial #2090003 | Pat. No. 555719
The guitar shows honest age-related patina — light surface scratches on the top and back consistent with a guitar that has lived its life, but no cracks, repairs, or structural issues. This is a lightly played example with a neck and frets that tell the story: barely touched. The gold hardware has developed a warm, aged character that only decades can produce.
Comes with a cream and brown soft gig bag (shown).
These Matsumoku-era Aria Pro II guitars are well-regarded for their craftsmanship and are increasingly collectible. A great player and a great looker.
