Super clean USA-made ASAT Thinline with original case—lightly played and well cared for.
If you know G&L, you already know—these USA ASATs are where Leo Fender really refined the Tele-style design. And if you don’t, this is a pretty ideal example of why people seek them out.
Up for sale is a USA-made G&L ASAT Classic Thinline in a beautiful butterscotch blonde semi-transparent finish, from the late ‘90s / early 2000s era. This one is exceptionally clean for its age and has clearly lived an easy life.
The semi-hollow body adds a little extra resonance and openness compared to a standard solid-body ASAT, while still keeping that familiar snap, twang, and clarity. It’s lively, articulate, and just feels great to play.
The maple neck is a standout—smooth, comfortable, and shows off some really nice grain. It was professionally set up a few years ago and has seen very little play time since. Most of its life has been spent safely in the case or on display.
I’m the second owner, and based on the condition, I’d be surprised if this guitar was ever gigged.
Condition:
Overall, this is in excellent, well-preserved condition, especially for a 20+ year old instrument.
- A couple very faint lines in the finish on the back (purely cosmetic and hard to see)
- Volume and tone pots have a bit of scratchiness when turned (common and easily addressed with a quick clean)
Otherwise, it presents beautifully and plays great.
Specs / Highlights:
- USA-made (Fullerton-era craftsmanship)
- Semi-hollow (Thinline) body
- Butterscotch Blonde semi-transparent finish
- Maple neck with beautiful figuring
- Classic ASAT single-coil tones—clear, punchy, dynamic
- CLF serial number
Includes:
- Original G&L hardshell case
For Tele-style players: this is Leo Fender’s later evolution of the design—same DNA, but a bit more refined and resonant. If you’ve never spent time with a USA G&L, this is a great one to experience.
Clean, well-kept examples like this don’t come up as often as they used to—especially in this kind of condition.
Ships professionally packed and fully insured.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or if you’d like additional photos.
UPDATE: The case still has an almost sweet scent inside. I thought it had gone away but I guess being closed for the past few years let it accumulate again? I’ve been told it’s likely due to the adhesives used to attach the lining. But I wanted to be transparent.
