Ok folks… I truly hope this hits the mark. Hopefully all of us Beatles, Harrison & Clapton..fans all INSTANTLY think of Lucy when you see this. Now.. I know the darker laminate is bigger.. its not an exact “replica” or remake.. again just an attempt to conjure up the idea or bring on some Lucy vibes!

Yes, the real deal Lucy is a 1957 Goldtop Standard(2 piece top revealed after refin, this has a 3 piece top) that was originally owned by John Sebastian (Lovin' Spoonful). He then sold it to Rick Derringer (The McCoys) the gold was so worn by the time Derringer got it, he personally dropped it off at the Gibson Michigan factory to be refinished cherry red. He wasn’t happy with the guitar after that so sold it to Armstrong‘s Music in New York. Who then had it hanging for sale when a young Eric Clapton walked in a bought it! Then in the summer of mid 1968 Clapton gifted the beauty to George Harrison. Harrison is actually the one who nicknamed the axe Lucy after the red headed movie star Lucille Ball! Harrison used it on different white album songs and the promo clip for revolution. He used it live often and on solo stuff as well. He was tracking with “her” when he called ole Slow Hand in for some fresh view on While My Guitar Gently Weeps..Clapton then used the beauty on the lead for while my guitar gently weeps! I tell the story as I was going to have this one refinished in Gold as there is some in the pickup cavities. My father (Rocky Athas) also a HUGE Beatle FAN said man.. that has a “similar” left wing or lamination like Lucy.. you should scrap the Goldtop idea and go Cherry Red.. and man o man… GREAT CALL POP!!

This 1969 Lester is sporting an easy or slight volute, however NO made in USA stamp with a 6 digit serial (846776), Solid not Sandwiched Body Sporting a professional Humbucker conversion. And since we’re talking humbuckers, this jewel is flaunting a nice set of matched 1968 Gold Gibson T-Top Patent Number Sticker Humbuckers that came out of a 1968 Les Paul Custom.

Both have the period correct features such as having the "L" toolmarks, moulding marks and the letter "T" on all bobbins, brass slot head screws, 42 AWG Poly wire, correct pole piece screws, short alnico 5 magnet, white wires coming from the bobbins, punch mark on covers, etc...

They have the period correct rating of 7.86 and 7.73 K Ohms. And were installed on a harness using New Old Stock 1969 matching date code (37th week) CTS Audio Taper 500K pots, and .022 black beauty caps.…FLAWLESS!!!

One of the covers has visually lost most of the gold plating than the other (but there are still traces of gold).
But the tones this Lester and Patent #’s produce I’m serious folks.. very well might melt small animals and children from about 10ft!! Bahahahahaha really, we’re talk’n LAVA!!
The neck is round and full, I mean BEEFY baby and the frets are great! You can really dig in and bite one off when needed, but also roll her back and get subtle and smooth if desired. This axe is an animal from just a players perspective on tone and feel.. resonance and sustain.. the way the 9.2 lbs hangs over the shoulder with sturdy yet even weight distribution, Just a true dream to play..Then throw in the the Lucy’ish overtone and well boys and girls, I must say…. HOLY GRAIL TERRITORY for a ton of cats and kittens out there… step on up with some new forever hands for this jewel!

Thanks for the interest.
