Yamaha TX216 Rack FM Synth Module System w/ 5 DX7 TF1 Cards 32-Voice MIDI

The Yamaha TX216 is a powerful rackmount FM synthesis system built to expand Yamaha’s legendary DX-series architecture into a modular, multi-engine sound design platform. This unit is loaded with five TF1 FM synth modules (DX7-compatible engines), delivering deep multitimbral FM capability in a 4U rack format.

Each TF1 module functions as a 16-voice, 6-operator FM synthesizer engine, enabling complex layering, multi-part sequencing, and expanded polyphony when combined. With five modules installed, the system produces dense, evolving FM textures ideal for pads, bells, basses, and experimental digital sound design.

Control is handled via MIDI and system-level parameters, with deeper patch editing typically performed using external software editors and SysEx tools such as Dexed.
