Vintage Teisco Del Rey Electric Guitar

Check out this ALL ORIGINAL Teisco. From the prices that I've seen these (the hollow body Del Rey models) listed for, I assume they are pretty rare. Compared to other solid body models, these are pretty fragile, so they didn't hold up to much regular use back in the day. This one is certainly a survivor! It has some finish checking, but it is structurally sound. The neck is in great shape. All of the body binding is intact. Yes, the headstock medallion is original and in place. The knobs and switches are original. The string/tone-dampening device (which is normally removed and thrown away) is still there, but needs the missing felt pad. The tremolo bridge works and is original. The only thing that may be missing is the pickguard. I will look for it, but assume I don't have it. I've seen these for sale if you need have it replaced, but I think the guitar looks much better without it.

According to AI...

The EP-10T is considered one of the more collectible Teisco models. Its value is heavily influenced by the following:

  • Originality: Stock units with original pickups, "push-button" selectors, and the "4 over 2" shark fin headstock command the highest prices.
  • Condition: Common issues like neck warping or oxidized metal parts can lower the price. Professionally adjusted necks and functional truss rods are significant value adds.
  • Playability: Because these were originally budget "beginner" guitars, units that have been serviced by a luthier to ensure low action and good intonation are often priced closer to the $1,000 mark.

It will need some work to make it "playable" to your satisfaction, or you can just use it as a wall hanger - your choice. It may never play as well as a Mexican Strat.. but that is not what you are buying. Due to the nature of the very light hollow body, and lack of support for the bridge, I think these all required neck pocket shims to get the action just right. I had it playing about 20 years ago before I stored it away in a climate controlled basement. The condition is "good" for its age (60 years old!). I may be able to find a gig bag for this. If I do, I'll throw it in for free.

If you are buying this 60 year old guitar, you know what you are getting into. I'm not a retail store, just a guitar collector with too much stuff. Currently, there aren't many like this one for sale on Reverb, so this may go fast! So... sorry, no returns. I've had many successful sales on Reverb, but one guy had buyer's remorse and wanted a partial refund that would have basically had me give it away to him for free. Don't be that person.

The shipping is fixed at what I've paid (on average) for the last couple of guitars I've sold. I don't make money on shipping. I used to pay about $60 to ship one from coast to coast. Now it is over $100. Even boxes cost $15 now! It also takes time to do a good job packing and shipping and I don't cut corners there.
