We truly can't believe we have such a gem available in the bunker. Here it is, none other than a classic from the early days of rock 'n' roll, the 1953 Gibson ES-295 all-gold. Wow! Made at the Kalamazoo, MI plant, the 295 features an early serial number, A-17373, a white oval label, and the FON number inside, X-8354-3. The story goes that right after Christmas '51, Les Paul persuaded Gibson to make an ES-175 Custom with a gold finish. The following year, Gibson put the '175-revisited' into regular production, the first 16" twin-pickup guitar, weighing a mere 2.5 kg and boasting a stunning look. The 295 was an instant success and was immortalized by Sun Studio guitarist Scotty Moore, who used it on Elvis's early recordings. The guitar featured a laminated maple body, a mahogany neck with a chunky 'D' profile typical of the 1950s, a 24.75" scale length, and a 1 11/16" nut width. It also had Brazilian rosewood fretboards, mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays, and the famous crown on the headstock. It has all the original hardware, including Kluson Deluxe single-ring tuners, gold-speed knobs, its incredible floral pickguard, and its trapezoid-shaped tailpiece/bridge—exactly the same as the one on Les Pauls of the same year, but functioning correctly without any angle issues, allowing you to pass the strings over it and mute them by hand. Fun fact: If you zoom in, you can read 'Les Paul model' engraved on the tailpiece. The pickups are two fantastic cream-colored P-90s, perfectly matching the gold top. The guitar comes with its original 'deluxe-brown-Gibson-Faultless' case with a pink interior. Recently set up and tuned. A unique instrument, one of a kind. A must-have.
